There are a few options when it comes to helicopter touring companies in Jackson Hole. However, you’re going to want to trust me when I say that I’ve found the best of the best. I reached out to multiple helicopter touring companies, and none responded the way that Tony did. Tony Chambers from Wind River Air is one of the most kind, down to earth people I’ve met. He responded quickly to my request and was willing and excited to work together! As I flew with Tony, I felt super safe before I even got in to fly with him. Below I’ll share the creative process behind Caroline + TJ’s big day with Wind River Air and hope you love the photos as much as I do.
Tony Chambers founded Wind River Air, LLC (WRA) in 2018. He was born and raised in the greater Salt Lake City area. He spent much of his youth in the Green River Valley of Wyoming at his family’s cabin. Tony has lived in western Wyoming for nearly 30 years. His safety first philosophy, along with his experience in and knowledge of the mountains in western Wyoming make him the go-to pilot for a quality and personal experience. Tony’s passion for flying was ignited when he was a teenager. He was on his first attempt to climb the Grand Teton and was camped at 11,700 feet at the Lower Saddle with his brother. Park Rangers were doing a rescue on the Grand, and a helicopter came in just above their heads and landed on the Upper Saddle. It was an awesome sight! At that moment, Tony knew that someday he too would be a capable helicopter pilot.
After that, life evolved and Tony pursued a career in construction. He also volunteered for over 20 years with search and rescue. With time and patience, Tony had the good fortune to realize his dream and second career – flying helicopters. Tony obtained his commercial pilots license in 2017 from Mountain Ridge Helicopters in Logan, UT. Tony thinks his work and life experiences help him to be a confident, and most importantly, safe pilot. His personal philosophy has always been and continues to be, safety first. I (Adrian) can honestly say from experience how safe I felt flying with Tony!
Caroline and TJ originally wanted to use a helicopter as a getaway vehicle on their big day. The inspiration for this came from Caroline’s parents using a helicopter as their getaway vehicle after their wedding years ago. Unfortunately, the stars didn’t align for a Jackson Hole helicopter touring company to be there on for them on their big day. They still loved the idea of having photos in a helicopter in their wedding attire, so a few weeks after their wedding day, we made it happen! The fall weather in Wyoming can be super unpredictable. However, we found a gorgeous fall day in a beautiful field near Jackson Hole and made some magic together! I’m so thankful the stars aligned for us to do this shoot together.
If this is something that you want to make a part of your big day, I’d love to photograph the magic of it! The options are endless when it comes to making your wedding your way. I’m a huge advocate for doing what YOU want to do on your big day, regardless of what tradition/others say you should do. There are many options for Jackson Hole helicopter tours, and you can’t go wrong with Wind River Air. If you want to get in contact with Tony for your wedding day or for a scenic flight during your wedding weekend, do it! Call or text him at 307.360.8850, or email him at windriverair@gmail.com.
